ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Hey friends! Welcome to Girls’ Night!
Our guest for today’s episode is Dr. Sasha Shillcutt. Sasha is a renowned cardiac anesthesiologist, mom to 4, wife, TedX Speaker, and CEO & Founder of Brave Enough. Through Brave Enough, she leads more than 10,000 female physicians on how to live confident, courageous and connected lives. She is INCREDIBLE. I’m so excited for you to hear from her!
Sasha actually just came out with a new book called Between Grit and Grace, where she talks about what it means to be both feminine and formidable, both graceful and strong as a woman and as a believer, and I just knew I had to have her on the show to talk to us about this.
I think for so many of us, we have no idea what it means to be a strong Christian woman. As a woman are we supposed to be quiet? Are we supposed to be submissive? Are we supposed to be feminine? What does any of that even mean? And can we be those things and also be a strong leader? How do we tap into our full potential and make the difference in the world we were truly created to make? And can we do that while also being feminine? Again, what does that even mean? And if we’re crushing it at work, what does that mean for our home lives, for our family? Can we knock it out of the park at work while also being a great mom? How do we invest in our careers and personal lives at the same time? Do we have to choose one or the other?
And what do we do about the resistance we sometimes come up against as women?
We’re hearing about gender bias in the workplace, and so many of us have experienced it. But what are we supposed to do about it?
How do we embrace our strength as a woman both at home and at work?
Yikes, right? These are huge, important questions, but I’m so excited to start talking through some of them together.
In today’s episode, Sasha shares the obstacles she faced as a woman on her own path to success and she teaches us what to do if we find ourselves in similar situations. We talk about what it looks like to be a mother and a successful career woman — and why she believes it’s possible to do both. And that’s just the beginning.
Like I said, these are huge questions, this is a really tough topic, and we’re just scratching the surface here today. But I’m so grateful we have such an incredible big sister in Sasha to share with us what she’s learned.
