ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Hey friends! Welcome to Girls’ Night!
Today we’re doing something a little bit different.
A few weeks ago, my dear friend Dana Marie asked me to be a guest on her new podcast, The Hope Collective Podcast. You guys have heard from Dana before here on Girls Night. She was episode #4 where we talked about finding beauty & hope in the midst of brokenness. She’s a dear friend of mine as well as an amazing writer and musician, I know y’all just love her.
So when she reached out about interviewing me, Dana very gently asked me if I might be ready to tell a story I haven’t really gotten to share much of yet.
You guys might have heard me mention a little bit about this here on the podcast, but over the summer, I realized I was really struggling with some anxiety and depression.
I’ve been wanting to tell y’all the full story of what happened, I just hadn’t figured out how to do it yet.
But when Dana reached out and asked me about this interview, I felt like this was the perfect time to really talk about it.
Guys, I have to be honest, I was SO nervous about this interview. This is the first time I’ve really told the story all at once, and it’s the first time I’ve really shared the full thing publicly. But I just love and trust Dana so much. I knew there was no better person in the world to talk about this with.
And I’m so happy I did. I loved finally getting to fully open up about what happened, and Dana was so gentle and kind to me in the process. I loved this conversation so much, the second we finished recording this interview for her new podcast, I asked her if she would mind if I also shared it with y’all.
She graciously said yes, and so this is actually a conversation we recorded for Dana’s podcast, The Hope Collective, but it’s still totally feels like a girls night.
I also have to say, this is a tender one for me to share, so please be gentle with me. But, I’m really excited to share this because when I was in the deepest parts of my depression, the thing that helped the very most was knowing that I wasn’t alone. And that’s what I hope you walk away from this conversation knowing.
If you’re struggling with anxiety and depression right now, you are not alone my friend. Not only that, but there’s help available for you. Just like there was for me. We’ll talk all about how to find that help in this episode.
Okay, you ready? Let’s dive in!
