ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Hey friends! Welcome to Girls’ Night!
In today’s episode, we’re talking to my sweet friend Mariko Clark. Marri an amazing writer who writes about hard questions, hope, and the Holy Spirit over on her blog, MarikoClark.com. Her writing is deep and real, and always makes me cry (in the very best way), but she tells the truth about life with pinches of humor and wit and sarcasm that leave you laughing, while you’re crying. It’s just the best.
And friends, I’m so excited to share this conversation with you.
So here’s the thing: we love our people, and we want to be there for them, especially when they’re going through something really hard. But if you’re anything like me, you’re not always exactly sure how to do that.
When something bad happens, I’m always afraid I’m going to say the wrong thing, or do the wrong thing, or get in the way when what this person really needs is space. I want to be present and be there for them, but I don’t want to bother them. I want to send them something, to show them in some way that they’re not alone, but I’m never sure exactly what to send.
I just feel at a loss for what to do when my people are going through something hard.
And that’s why I love this episode so much, because it's from the perspective of someone who has recently been there — recently gone through something really hard in her own life — Marri teaches us how to respond.
Friends, this episode is going to make you laugh, and probably make you cry, and in the end, it’s going to make you a better friend.
Marri’s thoughts on this subject have totally changed the way I love my people in hard seasons, and I’m so excited to share it with you, because I have a feeling it’ll do the exact same thing for you.
Okay, you ready? Let’s dive into my conversation with Marri.
